September 27, 2025 –  HyVee Community Day, HyVee parking lot, 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.  Stop by the Fairfield Cares tent and say hello!

October 4, 2025 – Fairfield Cares welcomes AARP State of Iowa director Michael Wagler to the Sondheim Theater!  Michael will address our community on what AARP is doing to improve the lives of the state’s senior population.  Fairfield Arts & Convention Center theater, 1:30 – 3:00 pm.  Free admission.

Golden Magnolia Sanctuary.– Dementia Caregivers Support Group.  First Saturday of the month, 10 am, 200 S Main Street.  505-320-5719.

Jefferson County Health Center. – Parkinson’s Monthly Support Group.  First Tuesday every month, 4:00 pm, Conf Rm C, 2000 S Main St 641-469-4353 or [email protected].

The Well. – Every Thursday afternoon, 12:30 – 4:30.  Games and other activities for seniors.  Coffee and snacks included.  1700 S. Main Street.  Free admission.

Food Resources

Golden Magnolia Sanctuary’s Stone Soup Community Kitchen.  Thursday-Saturday, 5:30 – 8:00, pay as you may for vegan meals.  Free Little Food Pantry in parking lot to west of building.  200 S Main Street. 

The Lord’s Cupboard.  Program has income guidelines.  Open 1-3:30 Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri.  1-5 on Wednesdays, 303 N. 4th Street.

Lutheran Church Come to Supper, Tuesdays 4-5:15 pm. 201 W Briggs St 

MANNA (Meeting Ageless Nutritional Needs Abundantly).  Foodbank groceries, delivery available.  In cooperation with First United Methodist Church and FoodBank of Iowa.  Call Stephen Ernst at 641-919-6352.

Methodist Church Home Delivery.  Available at the first of the month.  Program has income guidelines and is also available for the elderly and disabled.  641-472-2879, 201 N. Court St.

Nazarene Family Center – Iowa Food Bank.  First Tuesday of each month, unless there’s a scheduled event, then it’s on Thursday of that same week.  North 6th and W. Briggs Ave.

Optimae Recovery & Resource Center – Free lunches, activities, and programming five days a week.  Mental health resource.  301 W. Burlington Avenue.  641-209-6687.

Transportation Resources

10-15 Transit, D.R.I.V.E. initiative.  State and federally-funded public transportation inside or beyond Fairfield.  No charge for veterans, $2/ride for non-veterans.  Charges increase with distance.  Rides must be arranged 24 hours in advance at 641-683-2024 or 800-227-6390.
